Our Response to Recent Community Events

To our patients:

We want to reach out to you regarding the recent events in our community. In the wake of events surrounding the death of George Floyd, we want you to know that the Hennepin Healthcare Department of Medicine stands alongside our community. We share your feelings of grief and trauma, and have also experienced this grief and trauma firsthand. We rise in solidarity with all members of our community who are grieving and fighting against social injustice and structural racism. We want you to know that we are here for you and your families. We will support the cause of racial justice and are also well aware that inequality leads to poorer health care outcomes.

We recognize the strain that these events have put on our community both emotionally and physically. We continue to provide the best medical care for you. We also understand the fear, mistrust and difficulties you may experience while navigating your healthcare needs, and will work to eliminate these barriers. We are committed to providing safe, accessible, and unbiased healthcare for all who are in need or desire it and we will partner with our community to learn how best to address inequities in effective and meaningful ways. We are here to care for you and share in your wellness. We encourage you to call us with any concerns as well as thoughts on how we can move forward in this necessary journey together.

We are here with you, for life.
