Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. Board of Directors

The Hennepin Healthcare Board of Directors are community representatives who are appointed by the board and approved by the Hennepin County Commissioners.  In addition, two Hennepin County Board Commissioners are appointed to the HHS Board annually. The primary responsibility of the 11-17-member board is to oversee and guide the organization to achieve its safety net mission related to quality care, strategy, finance, and managerial performance. The board is also responsible for self-monitoring and advocacy. The board fulfills its responsibility through regular board meetings during which it adopts specific targets to measure the organization’s performance, monitors that performance, and holds management accountable for performance to those measures. The Board also regularly reviews and monitors programs and activities against the organization’s mission and values.

Members of the board possess a high degree of experience and knowledge in relevant fields and an interest in the organization and support for its mission. The board is seeking candidates with expertise in:

  • Governance of healthcare system or large businesses
  • Construction/Redevelopment
  • Financial Management and Investment
  • Strategic Planning
  • Human Resources
  • Community Advocacy
  • Lived experience in historically marginalized groups

Board member terms are limited. When there are openings for HHS Board positions, applications from interested are communicated through the Hennepin County open appointments website and email and promoted on this website as well as through announcements in local media outlets.
