Hennepin Healthcare Essentials

We believe balancing what you do with how you do it is extremely important. The “what” includes the technical aspects of your job and the “how” is rooted in our organization-wide behavioral expectations, which we call our “Essentials”. They are called “Essentials” because our employees and volunteers are our greatest asset and are Essential to our success.

The Hennepin Healthcare Essentials guide our behaviors in order to achieve our mission, vision, and live our values. Essentials are directly connected to the high value we place on caring for our patients, one another, and continuously improving our work.

Essentials are tailored to each role and are broken up into two main categories: Leading Self and Leading Others.

Leading Self (individual contributor roles): Personal leadership is about leading yourself and the impact you have on others.

Leading Others (leader roles): Leading a team and the organization in order to grow and develop those around you.

Essentials are included in how we interview, train, develop, and performance management to ensure the success of our organization. More information about Essentials will be shared at New Employee Orientation and during the course of your employment.
