About the Program

Program Overview

Hennepin Healthcare is pleased to offer 2-year ACGME accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship positions. These fellowship positions are open to physicians who will have completed a residency in any specialty other than Pathology prior to starting the fellowship.

Clinical informatics is a relatively new subspecialty of medicine. While physicians have been practicing CI for many years, formal board certification and accredited fellowships have only been available since 2013. Hennepin Healthcare CI fellowship has been accredited since 2018.

The fellowship is organized and implemented through Hennepin Healthcare and the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Fellows will work closely with our Faculty of physician and team of informaticians, EHR specialists, Analytics Center for Excellence, and our system’s leadership. Didactic support will supplement the clinical experiences to ensure that fellows are fully exposed to the clinical informatics curriculum. Fellows will have opportunities to research into information systems solutions and also have the opportunity to explore entrepreneurial aspects of health IT.
