About Knapp Rehab
Here at Miland E Knapp Rehabilitation, we strive to uphold the organizational mission of partnering with the community, our patients, and their family to make sure the best outcome is possible while they are recovering from their illness or injury. Our team of social workers, physicians/advanced practitioners, nurses, healthcare assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and recreational therapists work together with the patient’s goals in mind to ensure every attempt is made to overcome barriers. Whether the goal is to return home safely, to participate in a favorite leisure activity, or to walk again, many different assistive technologies can help aid in the journey. These assistive devices could be specialty walkers, splints, gait training devices and/or communication devices; as the needs of the patient continue to evolve so do the needs of the facility in an attempt to provide the highest quality care.
Our legacy of caring for patients began in an area with only four rooms shared by four patients each. Of course, Knapp itself, therapies, and interventions have evolved, but our commitment to providing state-of-the-art and compassionate care has remained the same. This year we have the opportunity to evolve even further.
How You Can Help Us Evolve
In the last year, we have rented a piece of equipment called Lite Run. The Lite Run is a gait training system that is a vital part of rehabilitation for those with gait and balance difficulties after a stroke, spinal cord injury, or traumatic brain injury. With the Lite Run, our patients are not restricted to the hallways of Knapp and can enjoy the many views that Hennepin Healthcare and the city of Minneapolis has to offer.
Unfortunately, funding for this innovative device has run out, and we need your help. For $2,000 per month, we can increase the effectiveness of our therapies by providing our patients with the therapeutic benefits of being upright and walking further.
No one faces their challenges alone. As providers, we are with our patients each step of the way, and you can be too. Your generosity will help to ensure that we can continue to provide state-of-the-art and compassionate care for thousands of patients for many years to come.
