Commitment to Patient-Centered Care

“Let the mystery be! It has long been my honor to attend births and since my retirment in 2018, I only practice in the birthing center where I’m happiest and most at home. I keep finding those ‘aha, now I’m home’ kind of moments in my work as a nurse. The first time was in 1981 when I finally became a labor nurse. Then, when I landed at Hennepin in 1994, I knew for certain I was home since I was able to connect with families from all over the world and all walks of life. What a gift! As I attempt to facilitate the birthing process, my goal is always healthy baby, healthy parent(s).”

“My free time finds me volunteering with shelter meals, meals for friends with special needs, walking my dog, practicing piano, singing in one of three choirs, swimming, embroidering, and overall delving into this mystery we call life.”
