Commitment to Patient-Centered Care

“My goal is to connect with each patient to understand his or her current state of health and identify barriers to the pursuit of health. I believe that, by working together, the patient and his or her healthcare team can be more effective in improving health through medical and interventional treatments as well as changes in formal and informal social support systems.”

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Carlson specializes in general cardiology and cardiac imaging. She is the Cardiology Division Director, the Fellowship Program Director, and the Echocardiography Laboratory Director. As a general cardiologist, Dr. Carlson has an interest in cardio-oncology and heart failure (the management of cardiovascular diseases affecting patients with cancer). As a cardiac imaging specialist, Dr. Carlson is trained in multi-modality imaging of the heart, including echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and cardiac nuclear imaging. She seeks to optimize the quality of these imaging modalities and ensure that the ideal study is performed for each clinical scenario.
