William E. Walsh, MD

Clinical Expertise

Dr. Walsh specializes in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has trained and worked extensively as both an artist and a surgeon. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art and design and a Bachelor of Science degree in pre-professional studies from the University of Notre Dame. He later became a Certified Medical Illustrator. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University medical school and remained there to complete a five-year residency in Otolaryngology, specializing in head and neck surgery. He was then awarded a fellowship position in the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program where he honed his skills in the latest techniques in rhinoplasty, cosmetic surgery, facial reconstruction, and facial prosthetics. Dr. Walsh joined Hennepin Healthcare as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in the Department of Otolaryngology.

Dr. Walsh’s areas of surgical expertise include rhinoplasty, facial rejuvenation, otoplasty (cosmetic ear surgery), microtia (severe congenital deformity of the ear), and facial reconstructive surgery to repair the effects of trauma, cancer excision, Mohs surgery, and facial paralysis. Dr. Walsh also has expertise in facial prosthetics, offering both surgical reconstruction with cartilage and prosthetic replacement with silicone.
