Chiropractic

Our chiropractors practice a hands-on, drug-free approach which includes patient examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises for low back pain, neck pain and other injuries of the back.

Diversified techniques for multiple conditions

Chiropractors at Hennepin Healthcare use a diversified technique, with some providers additionally trained in McKenzie and Webster techniques. Some of our chiropractors are uniquely trained in specific care related to pregnancy.

One of the most common and well known therapeutic procedures performed by chiropractors is spinal manipulation or mobilization (sometimes referred to as a "chiropractic adjustment"). The purpose of spinal manipulation or mobilization is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement. Manipulation or mobilization of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness. Based on the extent, timing or severity of the patient’s condition, chiropractic interventions may require several visits.

Chiropractors refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition requires additional care from other health care providers.
