Services

The Kidney Center at Hennepin Healthcare provides specialized care and treatment for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and related health issues. Having our kidney care services integrated provides continuity and community to our patients who are faced with chronic kidney disease. The comprehensive kidney team works together with patients to form care partnerships that lead to great outcomes.

Hennepin Healthcare was the first to bring dialysis to the midwest and performed the first kidney transplant in the upper Midwest in Feb., 1963. Hennepin Healthcare is known worldwide for the pioneering work that was done in dialysis and kidney transplantation.

The Chronic Disease Research Group of the Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute houses and administers the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) with oversight and funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the United States Renal Data System Coordinating Center (USRDS) which is funded directly by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIKKD).
