General Information

Cost to participate

All Hennepin Healthcare Comprehensive Cancer Center programs are free of charge. No patient, family member or caregiver is required to pay to attend any of our support programs.

How to register

To register, please call the number listed with each program description. The program leader will answer any questions that you have and give more details about the group.

Location & parking

Metered street parking is available as well as two Hennepin Healthcare parking ramps and a valet parking option.

Cancellation

Meeting dates and times may change due to holidays, weather and special events. Please check in with your program leader to make sure a meeting time is correct before attending a meeting.

Living With Cancer

Education & Support Group

Our general support group is open to all patients, family members, and caregivers. Not your average support group, the Living with Cancer Education
& Support Group provides participants with the opportunity to hear from others living with cancer as well as from medical professionals about topics that include cancer fatigue, local resources, treatment and more. The Education and Support group is facilitated by a licensed independent clinical social worker and other staff from the Hennepin Healthcare Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Look Good, Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better is a free, non-medical, salon and product-neutral program that teaches techniques to people undergoing cancer treatment
to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. This two hour, hands-on workshop is offered once a month at Hennepin Healthcare. 612-873-9902

Connecting through crafts: Knitting group

The Comprehensive Cancer Center Knitting Group is open to all patients, families, and friends. This group is a time for knitting, laughter, sharing stories, and of course, fun! Open to experienced knitters and those are interested in learning how to knit, this group is a perfect fit for all!

Exercise for cancer recovery

Tailored to fit the needs of cancer survivors, the Exercise for Cancer Recovery program is meant for patients who are at any point of their journey; from diagnosis to long time survivor. Offered in both individuals or group session formats, classes focus on balance, strength –training and moderate cardiovascular exercises. Equipment is provided for all participants. Classes are offered at our downtown campus on Mondays and Wednesdays and at Hennepin Healthcare’s Brooklyn Center Clinic on Tuesday afternoons.

Yoga for cancer survivors

Led by an experienced yoga instructor, the yoga program is based on the tradition of restorative yoga. With a focus on connecting with your body, our yoga instructor will guide each participant through a series of simple seated postures that are accompanied with breathing techniques to help one relax. Open to patients and caregivers of all physical levels, this class is tailored to fit your individual needs.
