Professional Healthcare Education and Training

Training Tomorrow's Healthcare Leaders

A Tradition of Excellence in Education

We have maintained a tradition of excellence in education and patient care since our founding 125 years ago as the state’s first teaching hospital. We treat the region's most critically ill and underserved patients and produce some of the most sought-after professionals in the nation.

We provide over 60 specialty care centers, neighborhood clinics, and a hospital campus that spans five city blocks in downtown Minneapolis. Our healthcare system has received national recognition for care quality, advanced technology, clinical research, and academic programs.

Our education and training programs include Graduate Medical Education, Undergraduate Medical Education, Advanced Practice Provider, Nursing, Continuing Medical Education, Emergency and Critical Care, amongst others. We also offer a wide variety of educational resources, most notably the Interdisciplinary Simulation and Education Center and a staffed Medical Library.

Our medical education and training programs are approved by national accrediting organizations, including the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) and the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), Minnesota Medical Association, and others.

Attracting the Best and Brightest Minds

If you live in Minnesota, chances are your doctor received some of their clinical training at Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC). Our training programs attract the best and brightest from top medical schools to Minnesota and when these young physicians experience the quality of life our state offers they want to stay here. It’s the secret sauce that keeps Minnesota one of the healthiest states in the nation year after year; attract the best, provide unparalleled clinical training, and give them every opportunity to stay. Watch the journey of two of these aspiring and inspiring residents as they follow their dreams of becoming doctors.
