[Home  + Internal Medicine pages: Our Commitment to Racial Justice and the Community.]

On behalf of the Department of Medicine

We rise in solidarity with all members of our community who are grieving and fighting against social injustice and structural racism. We want you to know that we are here for you and your families. We will support the cause of racial justice and are also well aware that inequality leads to poorer health care outcomes.

We recognize the strain on our community both emotionally and physically. We continue to provide the best medical care for you. We also understand the fear, mistrust and difficulties you may experience while navigating your healthcare needs, and will work to eliminate these barriers. We are committed to providing safe, accessible, and unbiased healthcare for all who are in need or desire it and we will partner with our community to learn how best to address inequities in effective and meaningful ways. We are here to care for you and share in your wellness. We encourage you to call us with any concerns as well as thoughts on how we can move forward in this necessary journey together.
We are here with you, for life.

[Pediatrics - Our Commitment to Racial Justice and the Community.]

On behalf of the Pediatrics Department

We know Black and Brown people's voices calling for equity in health and health care have not been heard. The babies, children, teens and the families that we care for at Hennepin Healthcare are beautiful, intelligent and capable people with immeasurable worth.

Our commitment to the community is to move forward in a more visible and action-packed way. We promise to look at racism in our own department and work to dismantle it so our patients receive care that is uniquely tailored to their physical, mental and emotional health needs. We resolve to fight against systemic racism in this country.
