Hennepin Healthcare received the highest level of recognition from the American Heart/American Stroke Association

For the eighth year in a row the Hennepin Healthcare Stroke Center has received the highest level of recognition that the American Heart/American Stroke Association awards to hospitals participating in their quality improvement registry – Get with the Guidelines, 2024. The award recognizes the hospital's commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

In order to accomplish this, the Hennepin Stroke Center had to comply with several performance and quality measures for 24 months and Hennepin Healthcare exceeded all of these requirements.

Hennepin Stroke Center also achieved Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus, meaning we treat at least 85% of eligible patients with IV thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes, at least 75% of eligible patients within 45 minutes, and at least 50% of eligible patients within 30 minutes.

Hennepin Stroke Center also received the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll which ensures patients with type 2 diabetes receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized with CVD or stroke.

Requirement for Gold Status:

Maintain > 85% compliance for 7 performance measures for 24 months Hennepin Stroke Center achieved > 95% compliance for all 7 measures for 24 months

Requirement for Gold Plus:

Achieve Gold AND maintain > 75% compliance for at least 4 of 6 quality measures for 24 months Hennepin Stroke Center achieved > 80% compliance for 6 months

Requirement for Target Stroke Elite:

Treat > 85% of patients with IV alteplase within 60 minutes of arrival and > 75% within 60 minutes of arrival for 12 months Hennepin Stroke Center treated 91.9% of patients within 60 minutes
