Get with the Guidelines Award
Hennepin Healthcare received the highest level of recognition from the American Heart/American Stroke Association
For the sixth year in a row the Hennepin Healthcare Stroke Center has received the highest level of recognition that the American Heart/American Stroke Association awards to hospitals participating in their quality improvement registry – Get with the Guidelines, 2022. (In 2017 the highest level was achieved based on the number of months we were in the program - Silver Plus.) The award recognizes the hospital's commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
In order to accomplish this, the Hennepin Stroke Center had to comply with several performance and quality measures for 24 months and Hennepin Healthcare exceeded all of these requirements.
Hennepin Stroke Center also achieved Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite, meaning we treat at least 85% of eligible patients with IV thrombolytic therapy within 60 minutes of arrival. This is the sixth year we achieved this level or higher in a row.

This award will be recognized on a national level:
Recognition in US News and World Report “Best Hospitals” edition.
Recognition ceremony at AHA/ASA’s Quality Recognition Event International Stroke Conference 2022.
- Recognition of award-winning hospitals in your vicinity on AHA/ASA website.

This year in 2021, the Hennepin Healthcare Stroke Center also achieved Target: Stroke – Honor Roll Elite for treating > 85% of patients with alteplase in 60 minutes or less.
