We lost Dr. Jeffrey Morken far too soon. He was a respected member of the Department of Surgery and the Senior Medical Director of the Ambulatory Specialty Care Ring. At Hennepin Healthcare, he is remembered as a phenomenal educator, a superb physician, and a friend to many. He made a lasting impact on our community and was integral in both planning and opening of the Clinic & Specialty Center and in the organizational response to COVID-19.
To honor his extensive professional contributions, the Morken family and Jeff’s Hennepin Healthcare colleagues have launched two efforts to leave a lasting legacy in his name.

Donations made to the Dr. Jeffrey Morken Memorial Fund will name the lobby of the 6th floor in the Clinic & Specialty Center in his honor. Funds will support current and future capital improvements of the lobby, which overlooks downtown Minneapolis and is an area for patients and their families to wait for care.
Nestled between the Surgery and the GI Labs this lobby is a fitting space to honor Jeff’s legacy and instrumental role in both the Surgery Department and as an organizational leader.
Dr. Jeffrey Morken Endowment
Long-term plans are underway to create a memorial endowed lectureship to honor Jeff’s contributions as an educator. The purpose of the endowment is to support a collaborative approach to scholarship, innovation, and clinical excellence in surgery. Your support honors Jeff’s commitment to Hennepin Healthcare’s status as a teaching hospital and preparing the next generation of medical professionals.
