Clinical Expertise

Dr. Mariam Anwar graduated with honors from the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan in 2004. She completed her internal medicine residency and geriatric fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Dr. Anwar worked in a community clinic for almost four years before returning to Hennepin County Medical Center. She enjoyed working with a large group of Somali patients, and supervised and mentored nurse practioners and students. She has a special interest in the care of the elderly, polypharmacy, osteoporosis, mental health and chronic medical conditions including diabetes, heart failure and chronic kidney disease. She enjoys primary care and advocating for physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
