National Comparison Puts our PICU Outcomes Among the Very Best

Every year, Hennepin Healthcare submits information  about our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)  patients to a national database that analyzes clinical data and compares it with PICUs across the U.S.

Again this year, our TQIP and VPS results show that the outcomes in our PICU are among the very best in the country. The standardized mortality rate of patients in our PICU, located on the HCMC campus, is lower than average, meaning outcomes are better, despite the fact that patients in our PICU are often significantly sicker that patients cared for in the comparison group.

The Children's Hospital at HCMC offers comprehensive pediatric services and a pediatric emergency department prepared to care for children. We offer unique specialties such as a Traumatic Brain Center (and Pediatric Brain Injury Program), our Burn Center, emergency hyperbaric treatment and fracture care for all ages.
