From preconception to postpartum, Maternal-Fetal Medicine offers care for families in pregnancy in both high risk and low-risk situations. We work with your Obstetric provider and a variety of other medical specialists to ensure that we identify pregnancies with maternal or fetal complications. If complications are identified we help to develop a plan of care that is best for the family and optimize outcomes.
We may be asked to see women for:
- Routine pregnancy screening including
- Ultrasound
- Genetic screening
- Medical complications in the mother such as
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Kidney disease
- Autoimmune conditions
- Blood clots
- Advanced maternal age (age 35 or older on the due date)
- Those with previous pregnancies with complications such as
- Preeclampsia
- Preterm labor
- Cervical insufficiency
- Pregnancy losses or stillbirth
- Fetal genetic conditions
- Birth defects
- Fetal conditions including
- Chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome
- Birth defects
- Complications in the current pregnancy including
- Multiple gestations (twins, triplets, or more)
- Gestational diabetes
- Gestational Hypertension or Preeclampsia
- Preterm labor
