Having Midwives I trust during labor is what I call 'labor security.'
The Nurse Midwives at Brooklyn Park Clinic have always impressed me. I’m sure you know, trust is not easily built with people beyond your family. The Nurse Midwives mean more to me than just a relationship between providers and patients. To me, they are a part of my family.
While in labor, I was afraid Sara would leave as her shift was coming to an end. She was so kind to stay! Just hearing my significant other say “Sara is still here,” was a relief. That is one of the best things about the Midwives, they understand how much we need them. I remember on one occasion, I wanted Cytotec but Sara felt it was unsafe for my baby. When my contractions increased, my baby’s heartbeat dropped. In a previous labor, she suggested a c-section and I refused and this complicated labor. This time around, I made a promise to myself that I would listen to my Midwives’ suggestions!
During labor, there was a shift change to Kate. The first thing I asked was if Kate was the midwife from Brooklyn Park Clinic – and she was. I was at ease! Every mother who has gone through labor will understand how scary it can be. When I go into labor, I stress and lack sleep, and all this makes me feel incompetent to make good decisions. I delivered my baby with Kate. Having Midwives I trust during labor is what I call ‘labor security.’ I need Midwives who know my body best to help me during labor. Kate is among these midwives I fully trust.
I am very thankful for all the care my family has received. I’m impressed with how well the system runs at this location. I’m currently working on becoming a nurse, and this clinic (especially the Midwives) has set a high bar. The hiring team must be doing an excellent job all these years because Brooklyn Park Clinic is growing and definitely deserves a 5-star rating. Because of the care Brooklyn Park gives, this clinic outshines others in this area. Believe it or not, my coworkers and I discussed this clinic and they agree with me – you are the best!
