Our Commitment to Racial Justice and the Community.

On behalf of the Department of Medicine

We rise in solidarity with all members of our community who are grieving and fighting against social injustice and structural racism. We want you to know that we are here for you and your families. We will support the cause of racial justice and are also well aware that inequality leads to poorer health care outcomes.

We recognize the strain on our community both emotionally and physically. We continue to provide the best medical care for you. We also understand the fear, mistrust and difficulties you may experience while navigating your healthcare needs, and will work to eliminate these barriers. We are committed to providing safe, accessible, and unbiased healthcare for all who are in need or desire it and we will partner with our community to learn how best to address inequities in effective and meaningful ways. We are here to care for you and share in your wellness. We encourage you to call us with any concerns as well as thoughts on how we can move forward in this necessary journey together. We are here with you, for life.

Chiropractors at Hennepin Healthcare use a diversified technique, with some providers additionally trained in McKenzie and Webster techniques. Some of our chiropractors are uniquely trained in specific care related to pregnancy.

One of the most common and well known therapeutic procedures performed by chiropractors is spinal manipulation or mobilization (sometimes referred to as a "chiropractic adjustment"). The purpose of spinal manipulation or mobilization is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement. Manipulation or mobilization of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness. Based on the extent, timing or severity of the patient’s condition, chiropractic interventions may require several visits.

Chiropractors refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition requires additional care from other health care providers.
